SSZ Stradale This car is interesting, This particular car is one of few that were configured to fit a Chevrolet smallblock. In this particular case a 383 injected engine backed up by a Richmond 5 speed with power passing through a Quarter master clutch. Most all of these cars have been powered with either an Alfa or a Nissan V6.
The original scope of my work was to build a full exhaust system, to bring out the best of the engine as well as be quiet and pass emissions, as well as complete the build of the car to bring the project to life.
For the exhaust I built a set of equal length headers that pass through Burns stainless merge collectors. A bit of a challenge since the chassis was not configure for the V8 and there were frame tubes and steering components in the direct path of the exhaust ports. The exhaust then connects to a pair of 3" catalytic converters merging into a single 4" exhaust running back under the driveshaft. Then just before the differential the exhaust splits again into two 3" tubes and back through a pair of mufflers. The exhaust gives a very pleasant rumble but is not loud at all. Well by some standards anyway.
With that done it was learned during testing that this chassis had a mind of its own when it came to trying to get the car through a turn on anything but a glass smooth surface. After reviewing the original suspension and discussions with the project owner it was decided that I would start with a clean sheet of paper so to speak and designed a new suspension for the car, it now turns in sweet and holds a line over even the roughest of tarmac.
Through the development phase I drove the car in numerous hillclimbs here in the Northeast.
