Building custom roll cages is a specialty of mine. I have been noted for some of the snuggest-fitting cages made. Roll cages serve a multiple purpose role within the chassis structure. The main one is to provide the greatest amount of safety possible. To do so the cage needs to be sufficiently tied into the body structure in order to share the extreme loads applied during an incident. A roll cage should never be considered solely to withstand a rollover but has a greater purpose of reducing the deformation of the chassis during an impact, such as protecting one's feet during a frontal or side impact. A good cage design will also allow for an easier repair to the chassis in the event of an impact, reducing the chances of losing your investment over the seasons ahead.
I place a great importance on getting the cage to fit close to the bodyshell in multiuse vehicles where the vehicle will be used when the driver/crew will not be wearing a helmet, such as transit legs of a rally.
I also build custom rollbars for open cars such as Honda S 2000 and Mazda MX5 Miatas.
